Among the many decisions you’ll make, selecting the right wedding florist for your Maine wedding is a crucial step! From your wedding bouquet to the ceremony arbor, to centerpieces and ceremony decor – the flowers you select will set the tone for your entire celebration.
In this blog post, we will guide you through the exact process of booking Geraniums Red, Delphiniums Blue as your wedding florist for your Maine wedding! Whether you are a flower enthusiast with an eye for design, or have little understanding of flowers, we’re here to help you make informed and inspired choices to bring your vision to life!
Step 1: The Inquiry Phase
When you inquire with us, the first thing I check is our availability on the date of your wedding and the location of your wedding. I want to ensure we can give all of our couples the time and attention they deserve in the days and weeks leading up to your event. Once I know we are available, I will reach out to schedule a phone consultation. The consultation gives us time to get to know each other and for you to share more about your wedding.
After we’ve set a meeting time, you will get a questionnaire from me that gathers more information from you. This helps me to prepare for our consultation and to know what questions to ask you. At this point, sharing a Pinterest board or any inspirational pictures is very helpful! The pictures don’t need to be exactly what you want, but provide more of a visual sense of your style and any specific colors. During the call, we will talk over your vision for your wedding and ensure we are a good fit!
Step 2: Booking Your Maine Wedding Florist
After our call, I will put together a custom proposal for you! The will include detailed line items and pricing based on the flowers I will source for your wedding. The proposal will include pictures that I think represent the overall style and feel of the design. Sometimes I will include pieces that I think would really add to the overall design that maybe you didn’t think of originally! It will show a selection of flowers and greenery that I plan to use and the rental items we can provide. We use the Details Flower Software to share your proposal with you.
If I’ve captured your vision, and we are a good fit, we’ll move on to a contract and payment. Your florist is officially booked! If you are not quite sure or have another idea, you can always request a few changes be made to the proposal as well. I will always do my best to work with you!
Once you are booked, we can always go on a site visit upon request during the off-season or early spring. If you have any questions or think of something you forgot during the planning process, please just reach out! We will do our best to accommodate any changes or requests to your original plan!
Step 3: Two Months Before Your Wedding
About two months before the big day we’ll check in to see if you have any changes to the design of your day. At this point, we’ll make sure we’ve ordered any specific supplies like vases and check our inventory list for your rentals. Sometimes we will special order items that need to be shipped like garlands or big boxes of hanging greens.
Step 4: One Month Before
A month before your wedding, you will get a questionnaire from us with details that we need to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you are working with a planner they will often help with this. The more detailed you can be the better! We will ask you about start times, set-up locations, and so much more! This will help us to make a timeline for the day and ensure I have enough staff scheduled to help. At this point, I will also reach out to any other vendors that we may need to coordinate with.
Once we have finalized your floral design, I will order your flowers. While some flowers will come from California or other countries, we will order as many flowers as possible from local Maine farmers. The new Maine Flower Collective and Rooted Farmers software makes it so easy to do this!!
Step 5: The Week of Your Wedding
The week of your wedding we will pick up and prep all the flowers! We will reach out to you with any final questions about timing or small details like ribbon colors.
Then we create your arrangements! We carefully store and preserve all of your flowers to ensure they look amazing on the day of your wedding!
Step 6: The Day of Your Wedding
On the day of your wedding, we will let you know the approximate time of our arrival. We usually drop off bouquets and other personal flowers first to wherever you are getting ready. This is often scheduled around the time that your photographer is starting with detail photos. Next, we set up your ceremony and your reception flowers.
Sometimes you may have arranged with us to stay through the ceremony and move certain items. This is a great way to repurpose flowers! You’ll need to consider the cost of the decor you’d like moved compared to the cost of the labor time.
Step 7: After Your Wedding Day
If you have rental items or have scheduled a breakdown of the event, we will come back to pick up items and clean up usually the morning after your wedding. Sometimes the venue will need us to come back the same night, and that’s fine as long as it’s scheduled in advance.
